My Students
Hello, I am a kindergarten teacher. We are a Title I school district, meaning there is a high economic need in our community. Our students come from variety of different ethnic background and our school community is very diverse. Our school and community had been unexpectedly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. One minute we were at school teaching our students , following a schedule, following routines, and in the blink of an eye our lives have changed including how our students are learning.
The COVID-19 pandemic has increased my drive to make certain my students will have what they need to learn and be nurtured while they are learning from home.
For many of our students, school is the one place where most, if not all, their needs were taken care of. Now that our school is closed to our students, I feel the need to help them in anyway I can. I want them to know that I still care about them and their needs are my priority.
My Project
Teaching in a low income ( Title One ) School district I see students who rely on the school to not only educate them but also feed them and provide other needs beyond the learning. Every child deserves an education, and access to food. Currently a lot families in our school and community are struggling to get food on the table due to loss of income.
For many students school is the only place they will eat, and with schools being closed, I was inspired to write this project so I can make care packages to get food and other items to my students.
Since my students are home I would love to be able to provide them with food that will sustain them and help their parents at the same time. In this project I have requested, Kraft Easy Mac, Velveeta, Original Microwavable Shells & Cheese Cups, Kellogg’s cereal, Chips, and other snack that are easy to serve and enjoyed by kindergarten students.
It would bring me great joy to have this project funded so I can create my care packages and get them to my students. Thank you for reading my project and supporting Donors Choose.
