My students need Free Standing Desk and a rug in order to create a workspace that will aid in their creativity and to provide a flexibility that they are currently lacking.
Working with journalism, newspaper, photojournalism, and yearbook kids is fantastic. They are so incredibly creative and enthusiastic. We spend a lot of time together in our journalism suite here at the school and have truly become a family. It is now the beginning of the year and I look at my new rosters and see nearly all of my students from last year, plus SO many more. This year will be amazing. I am really looking forward to seeing all of the different ways they will be expressing themselves through photography and the creation of the yearbook.
My journalism and newspaper staff are very excited to come back and totally revamp our school paper with more school, community, and individual involvement from the student body.
They have already begun bringing ideas for discussion on the first day. Now, we just need to create the environment and gather the resources to make all that they are dreaming about a reality.
My Project
In my journalism/yearbook room a lot of my students love to think on their feet. They are always roaming around the room trying to find a spot to stand and create. That, or they want to lie down on the ground and be comfortable as they write or plan a story. With Free Standing Desk, they will have more flexibility and freedom to find that comfortable spot to work. I have seen some of their best work when they can feel physically comfortable while creating.

We are asking for several standing desks because so many of my students say that they think better when they are on their feet. We are asking for a comfy rug for our floor so that some of my kids that just don't like sitting in a desk or standing can lie down where they feel most creative.
