Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 6 physics classes. It means my students are 10th, 11th, and 12th graders! They are really curious about the subject and some are stressed out by taking physics classes. I hope I could give them a great experience of taking these.
My Project
In our school, no breakfast nor any snack is served. They have lunch and that is it. I saw many kids are eating before the class starts but I never thought about what might happen.
A few days ago, one kid asked me for food during the class, she was hungry, I never had her face like that, when I asked her about the breakfast, I noticed most of the kids are not eating anything till lunchtime and some kids bring something to eat before class starts, also I noticed if students forget their breakfast at home, they have no money to buy anything to eat.
That was a wake-up moment, these kids are hungry and I am urging them to stay focused!
I decided to keep some food in my classroom and give it to kids who are hungry. Actually, now I think lack of breakfast is the reason that some days some kids look different.
This food will help my hungry students to get the nutrition that they need to stay focused on their tasks.
