This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Many of my students come from an economically disadvantaged background with seventy-one percent receiving free or reduced-price lunch. My students' test scores are still below the state's average. However, they are improving at a significant rate.
My first graders are excited about learning and eager to try new things!
The use of proper materials will help our class improve our learning and allow us to implement new lessons into our school day! Adding new materials and manipulatives to our classroom will help my students be exposed to new things and experiences.
My Project
A hungry student cannot learn and many of my students do not know where their next meal is coming from once they leave school. I need snacks for my students to help keep them full throughout the school day.
When a child's basic needs are not met, they cannot possibly think about learning addition or subtraction.
Every child deserves to go home with a full stomach and come to school knowing there is food waiting for them if they need it.
With snacks, my students can focus on learning and achieving their goals in the classroom without worry of an empty stomach.
My class is asking for prepackaged, individual snacks such as peanutbutter crackers, granola bars, chips, dried fruits, and fruit snacks to help keep us full and focused throughout the school day.
