Help me give my students these items for feeding at meals. We need the zester, coffee grinder, grater, and food processor to break food down into small crumb size bites.
Our school is located in rural Kentucky. We have 1/2 of our students that come from families with incomes below the poverty rate. We are also in close proximity to a military base and frequently we have children that are transitioning to a new home and school environment. Besides these challenging situations, we have begun to experience a drug epidemic in our small community which continues to grow and influence the area. Our students have many challenges before they even step foot in the door of the school.
My Project
These items may look peculiar for a classroom. I want to explain their need in our classroom and why it is so vital that we are able to attain these. I have students that are not able to eat regular food due to sensory concerns, medical concerns, etc. These little ones are not able to progress past eating baby food. Could you imagine your little one having to only eat baby food?
I am requesting the Ninja Food Chopper, Chefman One Touch Coffee Grinder, zester, grater, wooden rolling pen and the hammers for blending foods into different textures.
We use a variety of methods to get the food to crumble texture, dependent on where the student is at this time. This is the first of many projects that I will be requesting items for feeding. We have to continue to add items so that we can help our children learn. They can not learn if they are hungry.
