Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a single gender class in a Title I school. There are 16 girls in my class who love to read, write, participate in number talks, math groups, and learn every day. They come to school ready to learn, and they are excited about new opportunities.
Being from a low-income and high poverty school, my students face several challenges daily inside and outside of the classroom.
One of my goals is to have a comfortable and safe environment where my students feel like they can be their creative selves all day.
My Project
It is always hard to work on anything with an empty stomach. Your thoughts always go to "what's for lunch?" or "will I get snack today?" Imagine having those thoughts as a six year old.
This project will ensure that my students have a snack available daily, and breakfast items when needed.
Chips, pop-tarts, goldfish, granola bars, crackers and other snack foods will give my students breakfast items due to students missing breakfast because the bell rang, or their was no food for them at home. This project will help get snacks in their bellies to help my students focus on learning and community rather than their empty stomachs.
