This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Ninety-five percent of our student population qualifies for free lunch. A lot of our students have been classified by others as being troubled, but they have grown to love our theater department.
They are diamonds in the rough and are always looking for ways to entertain an audience.
Their grit has challenged me to be more creative in how I present opportunities. It has been great watching them blossom from improvisation to wanting to create their own works. My students are amazing.
My Project
Our next musical production is "Little Shop of Horrors." My students are so excited about this show. This is our first musical that is a period piece and my students are excited about the dowop and blues music.
We really need the funding for the Audrey 2 plants.
This will aid us in our production and provide the necessary components for this show. The experience that my students have gained through musical theater is phenomenal. A great deal of my students have grown to love theater and want to pursue it after high school. We will be able to take these experiences and create a tradition in our school cluster.
