This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
At the end of a long day at school, my students are still filled with excitement and are having a great time in my afterschool art program. However, as the afternoon progresses, their little bodies lose steam and are in need of a little boost. Many of these little ones do not have extra snacks with them to satisfy their energy needs. I want them to have access to healthy snacks that will satisfy and provide nutritive value.
Healthy snacks help boost focus and provide the nutrition my students need.
I want my students to have options that they may not typically have available. The snacks I've chosen have less sugar, preservatives, artificial flavors, and colors than my students may typically consume. These healthier alternatives will help to keep them engaged and productive during afterschool activities through the remainder of the school year.
