I work with an amazing and diverse group of second graders every year. In order to provide an education you must first provide a safe and comfortable learning environment. Our county is 13.1% above the national average for poverty. Approximately 32% of our students are on free and reduced price lunch. However, this does not mean that they make it to school on time for breakfast, are dressed warm enough, or have gotten a hug. My Project
I have the most amazing class of 2nd graders this year. They are trying their best to catch up and push forward after Covid has affected their learning. Providing my students with the nutrients needed for their bodies to learn has unfortunately become a necessity in my classroom.
Knowing that my students need the basics in order to thrive has made all the difference!
Seeing them relax when they know that these needs will be met melts my heart. Giving them an atmosphere that facilitates learning is essential.
