This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
“Tell me I can’t and watch me prove that I can.” My students have adopted this philosophy in life. That’s right- Our 4th and 5th grade students are not only rising to the occasion, but they are blasting right through every goal we set in front of them. From BETA competitions to standardized tests, these kids are meeting every challenge head-on aiming for the top every time! I’d like to provide them with a snack during the day to help keep them energized and on task.
My Project
I teach at a low-income school, where most of the students are on free-reduced lunch. Many times, the only meals they get are those at school. Some children come to school in the morning who haven’t eaten since lunch the day before. The thought of a hungry child haunts me.
I’d like to be able to offer them snacks during the day to help keep them focused, but more people importantly, to help keep their bellies full.
A simple snack goes a very long way in an already stressful day at home and at school. They work so hard and deserve so much.
