My Fourth grade students are willing to try new activities and are excited at the possibilities of what they could learn. They strive to have a greater understanding in the world around them. These students have varied backgrounds, but their culture is what keeps them connected. The Native American culture is rich in the area where our school is located and is a vital part of learning.
In my classroom, we focus on being safe to make mistakes during learning, having integrity when interacting with others, and having a positive learning experience.
This allows them to feel safe while learning new topics and finding out how to be successful cooperatively and independently.
The enthusiasm shown in learning is evident through cooperative learning projects which vary between teacher and student developed topics.
My Project
My students need snacks to help prepare them for learning in the classroom. They have a busy morning of physical activity and learning in multiple classes and can be too focused on their bellies being hungry that learning can become challenging.
Every child should have the opportunity to have a focused mind in order to gain the knowledge they need to succeed.
This can be done through giving their bellies the nutrition it needs. Snack time is an important time of day for them since they are active all morning and need to refuel to continue the day with math and reading activities. Refueling their bodies can have a drastic effect on whether their study time will be successful.
