This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school will prepare 100% of our scholars for high school in hopes of them all graduating high school and moving forward to college and career readiness.
Our mission is to increase high school graduation rates by providing a supportive and flexible learning environment that challenges every learner to find their voice and to exercise choice as they design their own pathways to success.
Our school implements a different teaching/learning model based on the processes that lead to growth. Our students belong to underserved communities in West Philadelphia.
My Project
I am lucky enough to be at a great inner city school. The students here are amazing. Unfortunately they sometimes have issues before they even walk on campus. Hunger being at the top of the list. How can I possibly expect them to focus on learning when they are so focused on their growling stomachs. With a drawer of snacks like pop tarts, beef jerky and crackers I can take care of their hunger so they can take care of their learning. These materials will help so many kids and I have seen it improve the students grades. I feel like it's a win for everyone.
