This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in an ICT classroom with 25 students. All students come from low-income households and many live in shelters. All students receive free breakfast and lunch everyday. They come to school everyday ready to learn and often don't want to go home because they want to continue learning.
My students are special because they are tenacious and they motivate and inspire me to be the best role model and teacher for them.
What I love about my students is their eagerness to learn. I am not only their teacher but I am their champion away from home.
My Project
I put many items in the cart that I know my students need. I specifically put air fresheners, sanitizer, and snacks such as chewy bars because the kids require them throughout the year.
A majority of the students I teach live in shelters and often come to school hungry.
Students come to school late and miss breakfast which in turns lead to off task behaviors that distracts themselves and others from the learning process. Getting these snacks will give them energy and motivate them to stay on task and remain focused.
I put air fresheners in the cart because the classroom can smell specifically after lunch. Many of the students can not focus when there is a smell and this would help them focus. I put kleenex in the cart because throughout the year when the seasons change students often get sick and have runny noses. All of the items will help prepare my students to have a great learning day, today and always.
