My Students

I have the privilege of teaching at a *new* elementary school in Washington, D.C. for the 2018-19 school year. I will be shifting to a third-grade position, where we will be focused on our writing skills and STEM integration. I am excited to meet my new community and truly phenomenal students. I have no doubt my new class will come to school each morning full of energy, questions, and wonder.

My new school is a newly appointed STEM school and I am working with the STEM coordinator to amp up the classroom environment.

My Project

In the classroom, I have a dream to be able to project my PowerPoints and lessons while featuring student work. Being able to show the criteria for success, as well as exemplar students examples would be legendary.

Having a TV in addition to a SmartBoard would allow me to project criteria for success/rubrics in addition to student work - all at the same time!

Students would be able to look at the rubrics and actually score peers. This type of feedback would be powerful for students because we could showcase work immediately, and 'edit' it without actually marking on the papers.

Having the TV in the classroom as a monitor would also enable us to have a second screen for class pictures, relevant audio or video clips, and encourage students to create videos for presentation.
