Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a nonprofit national career and technical student organization for young men and women in Family and Consumer Sciences education in public and private school through grade 12. Everyone is part of a family, and FCCLA is the only national Career and Technical Student Organization with the family as its central focus.
Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education.
The mission of FCCLA is to promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through: character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.
My Project
FCCLA is a national leadership organization for middle and high school students focused on Family, Careers, and Community. Several students from Orange County High School in Orange, VA competed in the state competition which was held April 5, 2019. Three students have advanced to the national competition being held in Anaheim, CA home of Disney Land this June.
The students competing are engaged, committed and dedicated to giving back to their Family, Careers, and Community.
All three students won 2nd place in their individual events across the entire state. Orange County High School is the only high school within the county of Orange, VA and we need your help, by way of monetary donations, to help provide these students with the opportunity to compete at the national level.
By attending this conference, the students will present their projects on the national level and compete against the winners from the other states in attendance. They will develop leadership skills that they can continue to use in high school, their families, their careers, and in our community. Students are given the opportunity to network with professionals and peers. It is often the highlight of the year for my students. One student attending has never flown on a plane before.
Currently there is no funding available for the students to be able to participate in the competition. But, with your help, these students will be able to enjoy a once in a lifetime opportunity and at the same time, be a representative for their school and their community. This fundraiser is designed to help 1 student pay the hotel, registration fee for the conference and the competition entry fee.
