My students are from a coastal high school with about 1300 students.
We have had a very difficult semester due to the hurricanes and tornados in our area.
I don't know of anyone at our school that didn't have damage from the storm. These extra expenses have prevented many of our students from participating in traditional high school activities.
I am the advisor of our FBLA chapter, and I take 9 - 12-grade students to local, state, and national competitions to represent West Carteret FBLA.
Our students have been studying and preparing for the FBLA National Leadership Conference since the beginning of the school year. The students are currently students studying and raising funds for the competition.
At this competition, the students will have an opportunity to test their business skills while competing with the best of the best from across the country.
Students will also attend workshops on a variety of business-related topics as well as listen to keynote speakers.
This opportunity is expensive for the students because they have to pay for their hotel rooms, food, registration fees. For many of the students that attend, it is their first opportunity to travel, meet, and compete with other high school students from across the country.
