My students need 35 more books, especially some that prove to be students' favorites, for our classroom library tlike the "Cam Jansen" series and more!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Have you ever found a book and absolutely fell in love with the author and wanted to read more books from that author? Second graders are the same way!
My students are an eager group of second graders from diverse backgrounds.
The students in my classroom come to school ready to learn and grow everyday. The average student in my class is a high achiever, who consistently performs above grade level standards. That being said, all of my students come into my classroom loving to learn and read. My students' love for reading is so intense that it is often difficult for my students to be able to put down the books they are reading, even when it is time to go to recess or get on the bus! Once these students find a book or author they love, they want to continue reading similar books or one from that author. What a great "problem" to have!
My Project
These books, once added to our classroom library, will allow my students to continue to grow as readers. By increasing the number of books my students have easy access to, they will be able to spend more time reading, and less time looking for appropriate books that interest them. These books will engage my students in independent reading as well as in reading partnerships where they can discuss the books they are reading. By having several books that are part of the same series or are by the same author, my students will be more motivated to read and will be likely to make "book or author recommendations" to their reading partners!
