Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Our school is a Title 1 elementary school with over 90% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. Our ESL population is approaching 50%. Camp SWAMI (Students Working At Making Improvement) is our after school tutoring program serving 3rd grade and 5th grade kids in danger of not passing the NC end-of-grade test. I, along with 4 other teachers and 5 assistants, serve approximately 70 of those kids each school year. Our students work very hard and sometimes can understand and work math word problems. However, they stumble and fail because they're counting on their fingers. My request is for a software program offered by Tom Snyder Productions called FASTT Math. This intervention program uses research-validated methods to help struggling students develop fluency with basic math facts in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. This foundation would certainly boost their confidence in tackling the word problems. Thank you for considering this purchase for our kids.
