Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are curious and ready to learn in a hands-on environment. Many of them are already enrolled in a Silicon Valley Career Technical Education class, which helps them develop technical skills. They're eager to connect what they're learning in class to the real world.
My students come from diverse socioeconomic status, ethnicity, and home environments.
My Project
My school has fully integrated with distance learning. We are using online edTools to create learning experiences that engage students. Our math department primarily uses Pear Deck and Desmos Activities to present math content and ask students interactive questions. While I've found some successes with these platforms, one challenge I still face is the lack of a quality device with which to use those platforms.
I need a quality desktop to ensure my instruction runs smoothly and to not miss meaningful interactions with my students.
In order to teach effectively online, it's imperative that I have multiple tabs and online platforms open to keep track of student responses and to give students feedback in a timely manner. Currently, I'm limited by the school laptop that I was given. With a better desktop, I can explore the full potential of the mentioned platforms and deliver a higher quality instruction.
