This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am a Kindergarten teacher in Indiana. We have a wonderful nature center in the back of our school and the children are interested in learning more about how the plants grow and develop.
Although we have a unit on plants in April, I wanted to expand that. After attending a workshop, I learned about Wisconsin Fast Plants. They grow from seed to seed in 40 days. Because I teach 1/2 day Kindergarten, I am unable to provide materials for all 50 of my students to participate in this discovery opportunity.
I would like to be able to give the opportunity to grow their own Wisconsin Fast Plants to each of my students. We need the seeds and the materials in which to plant them so that we may participate in a variety of activities with them. I would like to be able to have my students see the life cycle of these plants in the time we have left in the school year.
Your donation will ensure that my students have the opportunity to watch the growth and development of these plants as well as the oral language development that comes along with the many conversations the students will have. I would also like to show them how to collect the seeds from the seed pods and how to start new plants from them.
