My fifth graders attend school in a small rural district. Most of the students in the district qualify for free and reduced lunches. A lot of these students come to school without the basic supplies needed. This is an amazing district that cares tremendously about the students that attend school here.
These students are very motivated to learn and achieve new things, but they do not always have resources available to them.
They are great kids, and they deserve to have the very best, just like any other student.
Any donations made to this project will make a significant difference in the lives of not just the children that are in my classroom this school year, but also all the students that will come into my classroom in the future. These projects are so special because they give my students a connection to the outside world. It helps me get across to them that the world is bigger than they know. I make sure to let them know that there are people out there other than me, their parents, and family that care a great deal about their education and their future.
My Project
My students use a program called Soft Seven everyday. We are soon moving to laptop computers instead of desktops with a full keyboard and number key pad. When they are on Soft Seven they are working on memorization of multiplication facts and competing with other students to beat their scores from Oklahoma and surrounding states.
Number key pads help my students have rapid fingers when answering their multiplication facts.
We are also wanting an additional laptop to be able to use when one from our cart goes down. We don't want any student to be without. My students can't wait to get on the computers and work to improve their scores on Soft Seven.
