Our school is in a rural area of North Texas. We are a Title I school.Many of our students are classified at risk for various reasons. Some of our students are in the position of having to help parent siblings. Many of our students could benefit from a program to build their confidence.
Our students are sweet, hardworking children that need opportunities to feel successful.
They may not have seen the benefits of hard work in their own lives yet. It is our goal to help them achieve success now and in their futures. Many have experienced the challenges of poverty. It is our goal to build their confidence and help them to excel in any area they choose.
My Project
We have a small above ground garden that is not being used at this time. With student help, we would like to begin planting vegetables that we could serve in our school cafeteria. Our goal is to help students experience how food comes from "Farm to Table", and this is our best opportunity.
This is a unique environmental science program to help build a feeling of accomplishment and provide a healthy food option to our students.
Students will be involved in all aspects of the project. They will study to see the best options to plant for our area and within our garden plot. They will plant, tend, harvest and enjoy the vegetables form this project.
