This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many books that are read in the high school classroom are classics that have shaped history and will continue to do so. However, Kendare Blake is an emerging young adult Asian-American female writer who has proven herself capable of competing with the best. Three Dark Crowns is about three sisters, all born with powers, who must compete for the crown of their fictional country.

The novel analyzes the complex relationship among sisters with a strong female voice and provides a fantasy world of magic to engage all students.

It is an insightful and thought-provoking novel that will appeal to students of all genders and backgrounds. Also, adding the voice of an Asian-American writer to the standard books read in high school will encourage an inclusive and diverse atmosphere.
