This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing young adults who show grit every day as they overcome daily challenges. They are driven and intelligent young people, who want to learn as much as they can. Many of these students are English Language Learners, who need a variety of different books in order to improve their reading comprehension and vocabulary. I am hoping that these books can inspire a love of reading, better literacy skills, and let them imagine a brighter future for themselves.

My Project

I would like to provide fantasy books for my students. These books are engaging and hook students to read. I believe that if my students have access to these types of books, more of them will be hooked on reading and will come back to read more in a series. Once they finish a series, they will then look for other fiction that will trigger the same type of engagement that these books provide.

Fantasy and science fiction books transport students into new worlds and open up their imagination.

It provides them with an outlet to places away from the hardships of their every day life. I believe these books will help them both academically and emotionally.
