Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach kindergarten at a Title 1 school. These students usually enter with little or no prior school before kindergarten. There is a lot of emphasis that by the end of kindergarten students should be able to read simple, short books. This is not always the case and they are playing catch up in first grade.

These phonics tools would help provide the resources my students need to become confident readers.

The magnetic letters, word building boards and games will be fun and engaging. It will enhance the skills already being taught. These manipulatives can be used in small group, whole group, and centers. These will help them practice reading words in isolation but transfer that skill when reading books at their reading level.
