Welcome to our fourth grade classroom! Every year, on the first day of school, I have my students choose a class name. This year, they came up with ideas, voted, and chose our name to be the Wolves. The Wolf Pack is a group of creative, inquisitive and active learners, who love to share ideas and work together!
Our school is a wonderfully diverse community.
In our classroom alone, we have students whose families come from over half a dozen different countries, and students who speak many different languages. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds, and close to half of our students receive free or reduced lunch.
My Project
The most important resource any teacher has in their classroom is the books in their classroom library. The number one thing students can do to improve their reading skills is read, and having a fresh set of high-interest books will help increase reading engagement in these last few months of school.
I've selected a variety of high-interest novels that I know students will be excited to read.
Some of these books are those that students clamber to check out from the school library, others come recommended from the American Library Association. They are all guaranteed to be a hit.
Having taught kindergarten and second grade for several years, I have hundreds of books for younger kids, but I'm seriously lacking books for fourth graders. The books I'm requested in this project will provide a significant improvement to our classroom library.
