Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My First Graders have been working so hard doing all of their book studies, testing and benchmark goals that I want to end the year with a bang - what better to do it with than two huge units on the rain forest and oceans.
Our school serves a diverse population of high-poverty students.
Many of my students come from families that do not have many books in the home - so these integrated science units really help to instill bigger concepts like conservation, life cycles and pollution.
My Project
I am requesting fun, colorful and easy to use arts and crafts materials so that the children can create a huge mural on our classroom wall about rain forests and oceans. These projects will be academic in nature, yet fun. They will all be sent home at the end of the project so they can remember them for years to come.
These materials will really help our murals "pop".
We tend to old have construction paper for projects and the children will love to explore with other media. I'm looking forward to letting them create animals and plants with paints and markers. It's going to be so thrilling!
