My classroom is a diverse mix of third graders who are readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, problem solvers, and innovative thinkers. They love to learn in the loving structured environment we have created together.
Our school is a Title I school in rural North Carolina.
It is made up of many different ethnic backgrounds, races, and cultures. We serve a high number of English Language Learners, as almost half of our student population is Hispanic. Many of these students live in households that speak little to no English. Our students often qualify for free/reduced lunch due to their family’s socioeconomic status. Many of these students lack support at home and come to school unprepared. It means the world to me that I get to be the difference maker in the lives of the children I have the privilege to teach!
My current classroom has a nice mixture of seating options for students to choose from during their day of learning. We are however lacking in comfortable floor seating and the floor is still a place many of my students prefer to sit.
Having these flexible floor seats will not only give my students a comfortable spot to sit on while on the floor, these seats will also give students back support on a reclining level of their choice.
Due to these seats being light weight they can be moved around the room to be used at lowered tables, with lap desks, clipboards, or simply by themselves. They also have removable covers so they can be washed to extend the life of the product.
