Our students attend a fine arts and dual language academy. They are faced with many academic challenges every day, learning grade level subjects in multiple languages. They also participate in amazing fine arts classes including dance, piano, 2 and 3 dimensional art, theater and music. We have a very active, full day.
Our creative little learners are very inquisitive and are bursting at the seems with talents in many areas.
Optimal learning occurs with group work when all student needs are being met.
The project will impact all students in both Velez and Ferguson's homeroom classes as all donations will be utilized in both classrooms.
We feel our students need flexible seating options so that they can learn in the environment that works best for them.
We are hoping for wobble stools, futons, and portable desks among others to better serve our students.
Flexible seating allows students to choose an area of the classroom where they are most comfortable and provides an appropriate release for energy that otherwise might cause a distraction. As students learn to take responsibility of their seating choices they realize the importance of choice in learning.
Having flexible seating options in our classroom will ensure a more motivated, engaged classroom.
