My Students

Maya Angelou wrote, "If one is lucky, a solitary fantasy can totally transform a million realities." Fantasy novels can develop a student's imagination while entertaining them at the same time.

Our book club is made up of students who are already excited about reading and eager to discuss the latest book they are reading.

We have students from every grade, male and female, and diverse cultural backgrounds. They generally join the book club early in their high school career and return each year to participate. Some of our students would claim fantasy to be their favorite genre, and some would struggle to remember the last fantasy novel they read. This year our book club has had the opportunity to read several realistic fiction and science fiction novels. We would love to add a fantasy novel to our collection of class sets.

My Project

Owning multiple copies of these books will allow our students to check them out simultaneously, giving them the opportunity to read them at the same time and come to book club with their discussion points fresh in their minds. Their enthusiasm will inspire others to read these books and will help recruit new members to book club in the future.

Reading a book from a different genre will keep our book club discussions fresh and interesting.

The excitement of students who enjoy this genre will help to recruit new members to book club in the future.
