A class that truly represents Brooklyn, my students are from a mix of cultures. Not only that, but my families chose to enroll their children in a dual language program. They are all committed to being bilingual and bi-literate in Spanish and English (some of the speak other languages as well).
My students are enthusiastic, curious, and caring, truly delightful!
They check in with each other and treat each other with respect. Each day, they come to school ready to learn.
My Project
My students are so curious about the world around them. During reading time, when they learn something new about an animal or about themselves, they often jump up with excitement. This year, each student will pick a nonfiction topic to study in depth, so they can write their very own books. For our students to become experts in a topic, they will need to have several books about that topic to read and study. This project will help us to create baskets of books on several different topics our students can choose from.
By helping us to bring nonfiction books about the magical world around us to our classroom, you can help our students to become experts on a topic of their choice.
Of course, when they read like this, they also become better readers.
This project includes books carefully chosen to engage and inspire our students about exciting topics like sharks, butterflies, and our own human body.
