My students need a hand bell set, a parachute, and other instruments and musical materials that will stimulate their brains and bodies. The items in this project are hand-picked to help my students experience a music class tailored to their needs as exceptional learners.
My district prides itself on being the most diverse district in our state! We have over 60 different countries represented and over 70 languages spoken in our hallways throughout the year. We celebrate the diversity of our student body and strive to use that diversity to inform our teaching.
Our students teach us about themselves every day and they show us how to persevere through trauma and hardship!
I am constantly impressed by their resilience.
Our diversity is truly intersectional. The students who will benefit directly from this project are all classified as ASD or MoCI. These students are working towards becoming independent learners that have mastered the life skills they need.
My Project
This is the first time these exceptional students have had a music class tailor-made just for them and their unique learning styles and we need your help to provide the fun! These are fantastic kids and they deserve fantastic beats!
The small shakers and hand drums will help my students with specific motor function needs.
The scarves and the parachute will help me to illustrate the essential elements of music in ways that will captivate and engage my students but not contribute to their sensory sensitivities. We want our students to enjoy learning and exploring in a calming musical environment.
