My students need whole room tower fans to keep the classrooms cool and comfortable to help us focus.

Welcome to my classroom!
My students are amazing!
They thrive in a creative learning environment where they help set their learning goals and are provided with multiple ways to learn and solve problems. We need to transform learning to fit the needs of students who are active, curious and ready for a challenge. My plan is to create a classroom that is interactive and engaging and allows for encouraging creativity.
Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 90% of our students receiving free lunch. Some students even reside in shelters. My students are smart, funny and excited learners. In addition to their diverse cultures, they have diverse learning needs, General, Special Needs and English Language Learners. I would love to foster what they have to offer by continuing to share with them a joy for learning.
As part of the new core standards, students are required to understand many ideas and concepts. Our school is providing these opportunities every day. However, the building I work in is very old and has no air conditioning or fans. The classrooms become very warm which makes it difficult for students to be motivated to do their work and stay on task due to the heat. On some days, our classrooms can reach 90 + degrees. Even with the windows wide open, we do not receive so much as a breeze. When classrooms become very hot, students have a difficult time staying focused and completing activities. Supplying my students and classrooms with cooling fans would be a small step, but it would give us one less obstacle to overcome. We need fans to help keep the classrooms cool and comfortable. Many people will say, "I went to school without air conditioners or fans" but we must remember that due to global warming, this heat isn't the same kind that we all experienced in our school days.
Supplying my classes with cooling fans would give us more time to experience more hands-on opportunities and focus on our assigned tasks.
This project will benefit my students by making the classrooms more comfortable and will help create a better learning environment that will extend the students’ learning beyond the cooler months and into the hottest days of summer. Instead of fanning themselves and counting the hours until dismissal, they will be able to grow and learn. Your help is desperately needed to help our rooms function properly. We all depend on proper conditions for our classes to run well; this can only happen with your assistance. Thank you for your support.
