My students need to have fans in the classroom especially in the summer months to help them stay focused and cool.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the honor of teaching a small group of unique students. Our school is ranked as a high poverty school with 99% of our students qualifying for free or reduced price lunch. I teach what is called a Self Contained Cross Categorical Academic class of typically about 16-18 students, Kindergarten and 1st grade. The disabilities in my classroom range in severity. As you can imagine, trying to teach multiple grade levels at once can be challenging but somehow with our organized chaos, my educational aide and I make it happen. Each and every one of my students is making progress to meet their annual goals. Teaching my school has been a blessing because I know that even on the hardest days, I have little ones who love the consistency and love they get at school. Not only do I teach my students academics, but I try to push them to do their absolute best and show them that even though they may have a disability, they can do anything if they set their minds to it.
My Project
For my students to learn efficiently, they should be comfortable inside their classroom. Our classroom is located on an outdoor campus which is surrounded by concrete surfaces and as the heat rises outside so does the heat in our classroom. During Arizona summers the outside temperature can reach 118 degrees! Our classroom air conditioners simply do not provide adequate cooling. Having a hot learning environment makes my students feel uncomfortable and it hinders their learning capability.
When the temperature is close to 118 degrees outside, like it was in the past couple years, we already have shorter lessons and more water breaks, but we are also not feeling well.
Many of the students have sweat pouring down their little faces and are breaking out in fevers as well as falling asleep!
Tower fans will allow for the air direction so that all of the students will benefit from the increased airflow. This project will benefit my students by making the classroom more comfortable. This will create a better learning environment. My students will feel relaxed, focused, will listen more attentively to the lessons, and will be able to learn new material more easily in a cooled classroom.
Please consider donating to my project. Thank you for your consideration.
