My students need books to enhance their gift of imagination and sense of wonder. First graders will enhance their love of reading, by reading various texts.
My students are wonderful, smart first graders! They are eager to learn about the world around them. Every child is unique. Most first graders are in perpetual motion - squirming while sitting, busy noise in a classroom, wanting to make friends, thriving on encouragement, and learning best through discovery. Our school is a small public, rural school with 261 students enrolled for daily instruction. It is in a rural community of 10,046 residents, with a very industrial economy. The school provides collaboration opportunities, differentiated strategies, and a positive learning environment for the students. The community supports education through volunteering, small grant funding, hosting field trips, and donating supplies.
My Project
Donations to this project will enable students to benefit from reading a greater selection of books from the "Who Is/Was" Nonfiction Series. Students will become familiar with Famous Tennesseans. It is in first grade that most children learn to read. Teachers of primary students have the crucial job of developing the skills and strategies that assist learners in becoming active readers. In order to develop an early intrinsic love of reading, educators must improve teaching by infusing instruction with rich text.
The instruction is enhanced by offering multiple copies of a piece of literature.
Students will build their comprehension, listening, tracking, and fluency skills. Students will be introduced to a greater number of appropriate text within their reading level. The enhancements to the classroom library selection with allow students to learn about Dolly Parton, Elvis Presley, and Davey Crockett.
