Famous American Wax Museum

My students need books for their Famous American research project.

My Students

My students are hungry for information. They love learning about things in the world through Science and Social Studies. However, resources are limited and this hinders their inquisitive minds from exploring History and the world around them.

I teach 2nd grade.

My classroom is very diverse with students of all races and ethnicity. My students come from all over the world, including places like Mexico, Puerto Rico, India, Indonesia, China, South Korea and America. They also come from a variety of different backgrounds. Some come from wealthy homes and others from poverty. About 75% of my students, however, qualify for free and reduced lunch.

My Project

Through these books, my students will be able to conduct research on famous Americans. Through the research they will become their famous American. The children are encouraged to dress up as their famous American, produce a speech, and become "wax". They will then present their famous American to other students, teachers, and families.

Donations for this project will provide a resource for students to complete their research on famous Americans that is on their grade level.

It will also provide them with different options for the famous American they want to research. Through this project students will be able to research people who made a difference in American History. They will also get to practice their speaking skills through the speech that they prepared from the research.
