My students are special because they are a group of fun, loving boys and girls from rural Indiana.
My students are also special because they love school!
My second graders are 7-8 years old, and they come to school excited to learn. They love being in our classroom and having a say in their learning.
Lastly, my students are special because they are hard workers and eager to please. My students try to give 100% each and every day.
My Project
My students need reading and math games to help build our first-ever Family Game Night library. First, the reading and math games will be introduced to students in class where they will be taught explicitly how to play and care for the games before they begin traveling home.
Once a game has been introduced and taught to the class, students and their families will be able to check out a game to take home.
It is my hope that students will get extra practice with reading and math skills that are being taught in class.
Family engagement is just as important as providing students with additional learning opportunities outside of class. The Grab & Play Math Games Set, Mastering Math Games Library, Reading Comprehension Games Library, and the Can Do! Reading Game Set will provide my whole class with a variety of games to take home throughout the year for family game night.
Family Game Night will replace the traditional pencil and paper homework. Research states that kids need to learn through play, and I hope to be able to provide that opportunity to my students and their families. Here's to bringing the FUN back to the FUNdamentals of learning!
