I am a first grade teacher at a low income school on the south side of Chicago. Last year I was able to collaborate with the Chicago Children's Museum to create a Family Fun Night for the students in my room. Students and their family members were able to have bus transportation to the Children's Museum during their free family night. The families were fed dinner and allowed three hours to explore with each other. This was a highlight to my year. As a teacher I try so hard to make connections and involve the parents in my room with what is going on in our class. This was an opportunity for those taking care of my students to see learning in action and to get as excited about school and experiences as we are! The materials needed are the bus and the food provided to the families. Admittance into the museum is free!
