Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the illustrious honor of teaching an amazing group of second graders who have a wide range of diverse academic needs. They eagerly embrace opportunities to utilize technology to engage in learning experiences throughout the instructional day.
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” - Benjamin Franklin
vibrant, eager learners. My students' needs are important to me. "Learning is an active process, We learn by doing." - Dale Carnegie.
I need your assistance to provide my students with materials that will help them become engaged with hands-on math and science skills outside of class time.
I would love to provide my students with objects that they can take home to play and learn with their parents and siblings. Something great would be Family Engagement Math and Literature Packs in order to strengthen their home-school learning connection. My students enjoy coming to school. And I want them to have the same transition of learning and having fun at home as well. Their happiness and learning are important for me.
My Project
This project will help my students receive materials and games to practice skills taught at school with their families at home. With parents participation, students will be encouraged to learn.
These math and reading take home kits are easy for parents to help their students practice important skills to be successful in school.
Students will practice reading skills in recognizing sight-words, retelling simple stories, recognizing rhyming sounds, recognizing and counting syllables, identifying letters, learning beginning sounds, building vocabulary, recognizing opposites, and building simple words.Students will develop math skills in counting, numbers, and quantities, comparing numbers, addition, subtraction, patterning, measurement and shapes. These skills will help them to build a foundation for future success in school. These kits are in both English and Spanish which allow success for all the families in my classroom. Parents and families are children's first teachers. At the preschool level and any school level parent and family involvement is so important. With these take home learning backpacks, families will be able to work with their children at home to reinforce skills their child is learning at school. These hands-on learning materials will help parents and their children review and reinforce skills learned at school. The Family Engagement sets focus on early literacy skills such as letters and their sounds, vocabulary, and story retelling skills. The STEM kits focus on early science skill. The math family engagement sets focus on counting and number skills.
