Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many of the students at our school are English language learners. They come from families of hard-working parents who want their children to be successful learners. Our classrooms include students with a variety of academic needs, cultural backgrounds, and learning styles. We offer many programs during and after school to address the needs of our diverse population.
The second graders at our school are enthusiastic and eager learners!
It is our school's goal to ensure that students have equal access to learning while providing rigorous academic content based on Common Core standards.
My Project
The leveled books and bins that I would like for my classroom will be used for my Reading At Home program.
Family engagement is crucial to support the development of literacy skills in young children.
Students will take home books at their reading level each week. Spending 15 minutes each day reading to a parent or adult has been shown to be the magic number to improve reading.
Many of my students do not have books at home or do not have books at their reading level. This program will provide students with reading material that will enable them to be successful and feel proud of their accomplishments!
