At McNair Middle School, my students strive to be great. They want to succeed, they want to do well. They have the brightest futures possible. They actively seek out books to read, stories to write, and activities to prove themselves ready and eager.
Each student has their own unique abilities, and my goal is to make sure I touch on each of one of their strengths.
I want to provide every chance for them to do their best, and the various projects and assignments I do in my classroom allow for them to do just that.
My Project
One of the first major projects we do in my class is a project on family heritage. Each student completes a family tree and asks members of their family about their lives. They learn important interviewing skills that they can use in the future, then they write a biography about the person they have interviewed.
Once this is completed, students are given an opportunity to create a family crest based on things they know about their families.
Traditions, hobbies, things that they feel represent them --their crest will show their peers what their family is about.
