In our low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. am looking to have them appreciate themselves and each other. My students have been dismissed as not being able to learn by others, and it's crucial to let them know that they are capable of learning and succeeding.
Every week, I see all 500 plus students in the school for art.
We work hard to create and we need some extra support this year. Our budget this year has been halved, part of it being allocated to the music program. Having not received anything last year, we're not working with a whole lot.
I am so thankful that our first project was funded, so we can now provide art bags for 20 families to take home.
I want as many families as possible to have access to quality art supplies.
We're looking for 25 more pencil pouches, cardstock and paper for sketchbooks, and 24 watercolor pans so students can choose their supplies and be able to share their art with their families.
I have not been lucky enough this year to receive administrative support from my school, so turning to DonorsChoose.org and relying on the kindness of strangers to support my students in spending constructive time with their families becomes necessary.
I thank you so much for helping me support my students and their families in the arts.
