I have students that come from different backgrounds, religions, abilities, and gender. I have to make sure that all my students are treated with equity and equality by having the right resources and opportunities. In our preschool program, besides cognitive and physical skills, we also focus on building the students’ social skills. Most of the students for this year are from families that are considered low SES. For most of the children in our program, it’s their first time being away from close family members and first time to interact and work with other children and adults. I want the students to see that we live in a big world by using exploration and diversity materials to actively teach them about the world.
My Project
My project will invite my students and their families to a comfortable learning environment. The students will want to go and play outside during the cold winter wearing their snow pants. They will be engaged throughout the learning process. Students will be able to save their art work on the boards around the classroom. They will be using the different colored chalk to make their unique art pictures.
Also, the parents will have a chance to be engaged in their child's learning by using the home packs.
The home packs include different learning materials that will focus on math, science, writing and reading. Over all, the students and parents will feel welcome and part of the classroom environment.
