Falling into Fluency with Folktales & Fairy Tales

My Students
My students are active second graders who come from a variety of different cultural and economic backgrounds. They enter my classroom on different levels, but despite these differences, my students love to learn together with hands-on activities and innovative strategies. Our classroom is a busy place with students learning. As a teacher, my goal is to provide my students with an environment where all of them can achieve despite their differences. They always surprise me with how much they love to learn despite the many challenges they may face academically or at home.
My Project
My students are growing readers, and they are working on many important literacy skills, such as fluency. My hope is that my students will love to read, and will develop strength in the area of fluency.
The more texts my students read, the better readers they will become. I want them to be able to use the "You Read to Me" books to practice their reading fluency in a really fun way. My students love to read with partners, and these books, along with the additional folk tales and fairy tales, will make reading a joyful time for each student!
