This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students love to learn! They love to move and are excited to find out about our world. They are inquisitive and have many interests that continue to push their thinking. As a class, we work on encouraging each other to focus on our strengths which in turn builds confidence in all that we do.

About 53% of our students are on free and reduced lunch.

We live in a suburb of Detroit. I have 5 special education students and others who are below grade level. In our classroom we learn, laugh and love!

My Project

Creating lifelong learners begins with a love for reading. In order to develop this passion in my students, I need to make good exciting books available to them at all times of the day. So, I need a way for students to transport my classroom library books between home and school. The book pouches provide a sturdy environment for the books and a sense of ownership for the student. The dry erase pouches will allow students to annotate material that is not consumable. It will allow students to write and wipe off their thinking but will not limit the use of the material to only one student.
