Falling in Love With Reading: One Series at a Time.
Help me give my students the gift of books! Our class is in need of book series to help support the work we are doing in Reading Workshop to build our literacy skills.
I'm excited to be starting my second year in second grade with an amazing group of creative, thoughtful and inquisitive students! My students are active and eager learners who are always on the go!
I strive to create a rich learning environment that meets the needs of all of my students, while also encouraging them to explore, be creative, and learn from their mistakes.
The students in my classroom have a diverse set of educational needs. Our classroom is filled with blooming scientists, writers, readers, mathematicians, historians, and artists. My goal is to provide my students with a creative and encouraging learning environment.
My Project
My students have fallen in love with book characters! They race to our library to grab the next book in a series to see what their favorite character is up to next. I want to fill our shelves with book series to continue to inspire my enthusiastic readers to fall in love with books.
These titles will be used during our reading group time to help support their growth in fluency and comprehension.
Students will have the opportunity to continue to explore these titles during their independent reading time.
Our class is passionate about reading. Students spend a large portion of their day building their reading skills during our workshop and independent reading time, but we need help filling our shelves with these beloved series. I have fond memories of falling in love with book characters like Junie B. Jones and Amelia Bedelia when I was younger. I was always eager to read the next book in the series and to follow my favorite characters on their next adventure! I want to share that experience with my students by adding these book sets to our classroom library.
