My Students

The students at my school are curious, compassionate, kind and very motivated when engaging opportunities are presented to them. They thrive on supporting each other, helping friends overcome obstacles and cheering on each and every effort to succeed!

We continually focus on building relationships through collaboration, conversation, and cross-grade teambuilding events.

The school's population is a diverse mix of physical, cognitive, social, academic, and emotional needs. The composite of talent and abilities our students possess is respected by everyone. We share both individual and group successes and their creativity and academic growth are celebrated!

My Project

Our upper elementary students are in need of more nonfiction reading materials at higher reading levels. We use a balanced literacy approach in the teaching of reading and our guided reading groups have advanced many student's reading levels.

The perfect combination in reading instruction is to foster the love of reading while advancing a student reading level.

To accomplish this a variety of reading resources, particularly the non-fiction type is critical. As our students move up in reading levels, we need additional reading materials for our guided reading groups. The priority is to select non-fiction materials so that we can also strengthen our students' vocabulary which will positively impact their writing skills.
