Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Despite many obstacles, my 4th-grade students are life-loving and eager to grow in their reading skills. All of the children receive free lunch and come from a rural, low income, farming community.
Most of my students started school not knowing English and have grown by leaps and bounds, learning how to speak and write in English.
I currently have 20% of my class reading below their grade level. My students are resilient and are excited about learning and growing in their reading and mathematical skills.
My Project
These books will continue to enhance our social studies unit. My classroom is a place that my students really enjoy reading and learning. Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. They are very excited to learn about many historical topic and they can't wait to start to read these books and start book clubs. We do many hands on projects with this unit and I am looking forward to expand and give them more opportunities to learn and grow.
