My students live near the Gulf coast right on the boarder of Texas and Louisiana. Our school year had not even started when Hurricane Harvey hit our community. We were out of school for two weeks while the community took its first steps to recovery.
When we were able to get back to school I called my parents only to find out that many had lost everything.
That year I not only gave out supplies but also emotional support to my parents that were just devastated. All the while repairing my own house that was flooded.
My Project
Hurricane Harvey made a lot of little people way to serious. I want my students to realize you can solve problems in a fun and exciting way. What a better way then to bring in fairytales!
Fairytales are so engaging at this age.
This product will help them build a bridge for the three Billy Goats Gruff! How about building a house to withstand the huffing and puffing of a wolf? And let’s not forget about Goldilocks and her chair. These difficult but fun problem all have a solution. All you have to do is think, think, and build! Will you help us?
