Fairy Tales! The More You Read The More You Learn!
My students need various fairy tales to complete our fairy tale unit. We don't have a lot of books in our class library and this would make for an awesome project.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a low income, high poverty, Title one school. But this means nothing in the eyes of my kids. They have many challenges in and out of school but all they want is to be loved and to learn.
It's that moment as a first year teacher when a student's face lights up because you helped them grow.
That is how I truly know this is where I'm supposed to be. I have a unique group of students who really want to be their best and I want to be able to support them the best I can.
My Project
Students will explore different versions of some of the most known fairy tales such as Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstock, Little Red Riding Hood, and The Three Little Pigs. This unit will consist of a variety of learning methods such as whole group, partner exploration, and individual opinion writings based on the books they explores.
Exploration makes for great discussion and learning.
With these resources my students will create a love for reading and have deeper conversations about the books they choose to explore. This will give students to basic understanding of these fairy tales that were once told so long ago.
